I just got back from a short weekend tour in Utah with Melotia. The shows were great and we had a good time as we always do. The Utah shows were our first real shows performing as a three piece and playing the material from our new EP. Everything went over well and we received a lot of compliments regarding our live sound and our new songs. It was a small taste of "tour life" again and I'm glad we went out there and did the shows.

I got back to my house at about 2:00AM Monday morning (last night) and didn't get a lot of sleep. Today was mostly just a "taking care of business" kind of day. We had to drop off some equipment at Guitar Center and return our van to Long Beach. So we were all up early and functioning on about four hours sleep.

Coming off the road can be a little depressing at times, especially when you do a short stint like the one we just did. I find it best to just keep myself completely submerged in creative work 99.9% of the time. That usually stops me from thinking too much about anything else. Mental exhaustion is my ally! This week I will be working on a few different things. I have some Melotia stuff to take care of - I have to get the new Saving August Divine shirt up on our web store (store.melotia.com) and I have some CDs to send out to various places. Aside from that I will continue working on editing my book. I'm aiming to get it into print some time in July. We'll see how that goes. Click here if you have no idea what I'm talking about.

Also on the agenda this week is some recording. I will start working on the first new solo recording this week. I'm still undecided as to what song I will record first. Back in 2006 I recorded drums for nine songs and the drum tracks have sat dormant on a hard-drive in my studio since then. I've been listening to the drum takes over the past few days and I'm liking what I'm hearing. So I'll probably pick out one of those songs and start recording the rest of the music for it.
